An update from New Theatre Royal on COVID-19
The closure of our building in March 2020 due to the Coronavirus pandemic forced us to either cancel or postpone dozens of events. We rely on ticket sales for the majority of our income and this had a devastating impact. With the support of Portsmouth City Council we now have a clear way forward.
We truly believe that we are all going to need theatres more than ever to bring us back together as our community recovers from COVID-19. We are committed to being here for our audiences, inspiring them through live performance and participation, for many more years to come.
We will be opening our doors to audiences once again very soon! Take a look at What’s On and please support us by buying tickets – we can’t wait to see our audiences again!
Changes to our policy
Following the events of the past year we have made some key changes to give our customers complete peace of mind when booking tickets with us.
- We have updated our terms and conditions for purchasing tickets. Should an event be unable to go ahead due to COVID-19, all customers will receive a complete refund at the time of cancellation.
- We have been accredited the ‘See It Safely Mark’. This certified that we are complying with the latest Government and industry COVID-19 guidelines to keep our audiences and staff safe. You can find out more here.
This is a challenging time for us all in the arts, we are a charity and rely on the support of our audiences. Buying tickets or making a donation will help to support us to protect the theatre’s future, you can donate here.
We cannot wait to open our doors once again and welcome you back but, for now, take care of yourselves and those around you and we thank you all for your kind messages of support.
