New Theatre Royal Coronavirus update – from 24 February 2022

Proud to have been welcoming visitors to our beautiful theatre in the heart of Portsmouth since 1856!

Before your visit:

  • All tickets must be booked in advance so we can minimise any queuing on your arrival.
You can choose to have your tickets emailed to you or you can collect them from the Box Office.
  • Any emailed tickets will be scanned at the entrance so please either print these out at home or have them on your smartphone with the QR code clearly visible.
  • We ask that you travel light and do not bring large bags with you.

If you or someone in your party has Covid-19, please stay at home and avoid contact with other people, but contact the Box Office on [email protected] with details of your booking, before the start of the performance, so they can discuss your options with you.

When you arrive at the venue:

  • You DO NOT need to show an NHS COVID Pass or check in via the NHS QR Code to the venue.
  • The wearing of face coverings is now optional, and it is your choice if you wish to wear a mask. However, for the safety of our staff and other customers, our Ushers and staff may still choose to wear face coverings.
  • Bars will be open for purchases of alcoholic beverages, refreshments (sweets, soft drinks and ice creams) pre-show and during the interval. The bar area can get very busy so please be considerate of those around you.
  • We accept both cash and card as payment.

During your visit:

  • It is your choice if you wish to continue to wear a face covering.
  • We ask that you keep movement around the theatre to a minimum.
  • Toilets will be open for use throughout the performance. Please wash your hands thoroughly.
  • We will continue with enhanced cleaning, during and after the performance.

At the end of the performance:

  • When leaving, please use the exit doors indicated by the Venue Ushers.
  • Please take all of your rubbish with you.

Please remember to be kind and considerate during your visit; our only aim is to ensure you have an excellent visit to our theatre and to provide you and your family with a safe and magical theatre experience.

It is your choice if you wish to wear a face covering, but it will help to protect other guests, our staff and the cast and crew of our shows.
