Friday 11 July – Writing for Performance (Playwriting) with Vincent Adams, playwriter, performer and researcher. Write short scenes to be read aloud and reflect on effective dramatic dialogue. Creating a live performance puts the writer in a different position from the novelist or poet: in the theatre, the storytelling happens in the present tense as the play unfolds before each audience; the writer is one of a group of creatives who contribute to the production. Storytelling comes through dialogue and actions. Hearing readings is hugely beneficial.
