Ilé La Wà is a thought-provoking emotional play that delivers ★★★★ LONDON THEATRE REVIEWS

About the event

You have chosen Britain but has it chosen you?

Caught in the web of the government’s hostile environment as collateral damage or target, four stranger’s lives are interrupted when they can’t produce ID in a spot check. What follows in the holding room where they wait for verification of their legal status’, are a series of interrogations of the self and each other, laying bare the realities and implications of always being ‘the other’ in a place you call home.

The Windrush Scandal is not over. Brexit Blunders have already begun and that is only one flavour of everyday displacement that we contend with.  In this rollercoaster described by Exeunt as ‘a strongly and beautifully worded reclamation of what it means to be and to belong’, Ilé La Wà dangles the question: How do you belong to a place that doesn’t see you?
