About the event
Fresh from their inaugural concert in October 2022, the newly revived big band from The Bands of HM Royal Marines, ‘The Oceanaires’, are reinvigorating the music from the 1940’s swing era and are excited to display their unique talents in the home of the Royal Navy and are delight to be performing at the New Theatre Royal, Portsmouth.
Following the tradition established by the original Oceanaires throughout the 1940’s, 50’s and 60’s, the band includes instrumentalists and vocalists from the breadth of the Royal Marines Band Service, bringing with them a wide and varied programme of your favourite big band numbers.
Under the direction of Captain Phil Trudgeon RM and featuring one of the UK’s finest trumpet players, Band Sergeant Mark Upton, this is a fantastic opportunity to see the band in a guise far removed from usual military music and should not be missed.
