About the event
We’re excited to announce that we will be holding an Elite Dance Industry Week at New Theatre Royal Portsmouth.
What to expect:
4 days of Intensive Dance Training At New Theatre Royal, Portsmouth
- Masterclasses with Industry Professionals
- Workshops on our Mainstage and mirrored studio
- End of week Showcase (FREE for families of the dancers to attend)
Participants will have the chance to learn from and interact with top industry professionals, including performers from current West End shows including SIX and Les Misérables and faculty from some of the UK’s top Dance Colleges, gaining invaluable insight and guidance. The workshops will be held on our main stage as well as in our mirrored dance studio, providing an authentic industry experience. To cap off the week, dancers will have the opportunity to showcase what they’ve learned and polished during the workshops in a performance which is open to families of the dancers and free to attend.
This is a unique opportunity for intermediate and advanced dancers wishing to experience a professional training environment and demonstrate their skills and talent. The Senior and Junior courses will reflect the training needs of dancers at different stages of their dance journey. This is an event not to be missed for those looking to elevate their dance skills and network within the industry.
The full course price is just £180.
WORKSHOPS DURING THE WEEK
West End Workshop with Bryony Louise Duncan. Bryony was in the West End and National tour of SIX as well as the West End’s production of Les Misérables. In this workshop dancers will learn a small piece of choreography which can be used in the showcase on the 8th August to show to parents.
Paul Chantry is a classical ballet teacher, contemporary dance teacher, choreographer and movement director. He will be running a workshop to teach dancers a contemporary ballet piece which can be performed in the showcase at the end of the week.
The Mindful Movement Coach Claire Tamplin will be running a workshop to teach dancers the skill of mindfulness and her session will leave you feeling empowered, present and more connected to yourself and others in preparation for auditions and performances alike.
We are sure Jonathan Dudley will be popular in this newly-announced Wicked workshop. Another amazing chance to learn new skills from a musical theatre professional, who has performed in both the West End and global tours, and to develop your existing talents ready to showcase at the end of the week.
