There are plenty of exciting and affordable ways for primary and secondary schools to get involved with the theatre.
Professional productions are often accompanied by workshops, resource packs, post show discussions and opportunities to meet the cast. if you want to bring your students to one of our shows, make sure you contact us before hand to see what else we can offer your college and how we can best support your visit.
We frequently run projects in schools across the city and beyond, including projects with Artswork, Portsmouth Festivities and other creative partners.
Workshops to support key stage 3 & 4 are available in theatre, dance, design, technical theatre, film and media. We have a wide range of Associate Artists from across the industry who all work closely with our Learning and Participation Department.
BTEC and A Level support workshops are also available in theatre, dance, design, technical theatre, film and media. We have a wide range of University students and Creative Lab Associates from across the industry who all work closely with our Creative Learning Department.
Arts Award – New Theatre Royal is an Arts Award Supporter, meaning that we are a creative organisation providing young people with opportunities to engage with a range of activities in order to support their arts award portfolios. We also have a pool of freelancers and Associate Artists who are all trained to deliver Arts Award with your pupils, from Discover to Gold.
Theatre Visits – we are always happy to show people around our beautiful listed building, as well as our exciting new studio spaces. Theatre visits can include a guided tour and a workshop on the stage.
