Chris Moyles opened his award winning BBC Radio 1 show Access All Areas tour at the New Theatre Royal, Portsmouth. The first in a week of live broadcasts of the show at theatres across the UK.

The show started at 6.30am and the 400 audience were ushered in during the 8am news. Shortly afterwards the gauze curtain was dropped to reveal the breakfast team to rapturous applause from the audience. The most enthusiastic fans had been queuing since 5.45am to get front row seats.

The whole breakfast team travelled down for the show: Chris Moyles, ‘Comedy’ Dave Vitty, Dominic Byrne, Tina Daheley and producer, Aled Haydn Jones and popular chart-topping girl band, The Saturdays, also put in a surprise appearance.

Chris Moyles praised the NTR, calling it “a really lovely theatre” and producer, Aled Haydn Jones described it as “the most perfect venue” to kick off the tour.

Two audience members were selected to take part in the infamous Car Park Catchphrase and sat on ride-on children’s cars while guessing the famous catchphrases from Moyles’ clues and the daily Duck Register was conducted live with audience members’ names being read out to the song Barbara Streisand by Duck Sauce.

Listeners were able to watch the show live via the Red Button on digital TV and all the action was live streamed at bbc.co.uk/radio1 and onto the BBC Big Screens.
