Future Plans

New Theatre Royal is working to rebuild the stage house that was destroyed by the fire in 1970s.

We are working with the University of Portsmouth to create a cultural hub in the heart of the city. Together we will provide state of the art facilities for training, performance and enterprise. We will rebuild our stage house, create much needed dressing rooms and introduce a new creative learning space to help bring new companies to the city and deliver our expanding outreach and education programme. The aim is to start work at the end of 2011. During this time we will be creating performances and events outside and around the city so look out for NTR@ – before we reopen in Summer 2013.

Our target is £4million – to date we have pledges of up to £2million.
